L.A. is just the place to be this weekend.

Are any of you attending the L Word convention in L.A. this weekend? I'm not sure if I'm going to make it, but I might see you out and about. Kate, Leisha and Erin are all scheduled to appear. Be sure to tell me your stories when you get back from it!

Also don't forget that Leisha Hailey's band UH HUH HER will be playing at the Knitting Factory Friday night.

The Donnas are playing at the Roxy on Saturday night.

My bday & Killola's last L.A. show of the year are happening at Safari Sam's on Sunday night.

And Tegan & Sara will be downtown Monday night.

This city's not so bad sometimes. :-)

My Los Angeles Birthday Plans!

If you are in or near l.a. and want to come check out some awesome live music, have some righteous nachos and join me for my casual birthday celebration, I'd love to see you:-)

(Killola: milk does a body good.)

The shindig/show is at Safari Sam's in Hollywood this Sunday, Oct. 28th. my buddies in the band Killola, (whose lead singer Lisa is the star of the lezzy web series Girltrash) are playing.

I chose this location because its one of the few places in l.a. that doesn't have attitude...and they'll actually let me in to my own party no matter what I'm wearing:-)

I'll be there starting at 8pm and will stick around for a few hours...there's a full dinner menu...its a casual place like a rocker bar thingy. Its ALL-AGES. Give the bar a call if you need more info.

If you're planning on going, please send me a message so I can look for you:-)

P.S. my actual bday is the 30th. but dont tell *the 28th* that!

Missy Higgins

People of Australia...prepare to fall out of your seats: I saw Missy do an in-store in Los Angeles Friday night where about 100 people were in attendance. It was at a bookstore that sells cds called Borders, and she just walked right on in past everyone like she was your local librarian. Everyone else, to put into perspective why the Aussies might have a little bit of a fit when they hear that, imagine you heard that Sarah Mclachlan or Sheryl Crow played for 100 people at a bookstore in Sydney. Wouldn't happen, right? Right.

I'm no Perez Hilton and I'm not in the business of outing celebs just for the sake of outing them. But I certainly hope the rumors are true and this chick's at least bi cause I have a mad crush on her. Whether or not she likes to snog ladies or gents, or both, or neither, is really irrelevant. The music is what's most important here. She has an amazing soulful sound, some pretty inspired lyrics and is the one of the friendliest in-store-rs I've ever seen.

All that said tho, I still have my theories, mostly based on songs like this one, whose lyrics include:

"and this rumor down said if you dont mind?
im going to leave you here till night time
and we can do what we want out of spotlight
im your secret.... aren't i babe
yeah im your secret aren't i babe"

"Secret"

(from her Hotel Cafe show in L.A. Oct 17th)

I know this might sound crazy, but at the in-store, her style/delivery reminded me of a mixture between Johnathan Rice and Something Corporate's Andrew McMahon on a few of her songs! Like in this one:

"The Special Two"

Um...even more telling lyrics in that one too...tres interesting. Missy, if you're single, I'd love to take you out on a date and show you the wonderful world of lesbianism. No seriously, I can turn any movie date and any trip to Red Lobster into a seriously gay(er) affair. Let's get some chedda biscuits together and talk about it. Despite what this post and the rest of my blog might indicate, I can be discreet;-)

"Your Daily Lesbian"...is back!

Oh my sweets, you guys really know how to get a point across. A few days ago, I asked in this post if I should bring back the Daily Lesbian part of my site where I feature a different chick each day who's looking for new friends, penpals or a LOVE SLAVE. You guys sent in a resounding um...'yes please.' And so here we are. I'm gonna do this for as long as I can. We had some great success earlier this year with it. I live to get you laid.

I'm going to use myself as an example, because I fit the criteria. I am a lesbian on a daily basis. I am a girl. I want to date another girl. I am single. Here I go:

Name: Arlan
Age: 26
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Myspace URL: www.myspace.com/thisismyinterlude

"I currently reside in Los Angeles. I enjoy imagining what fly-fishing is like, making faces in the mirror when no one is home, and teaching inmates how to make poetic licenses. I turn 27 in a few days, so you might wanna jump on the good foot with me while I can still walk upright without the use of cane. According to my OKCupid profile, I'm 'rad.' So it must be true!

It's true, I do know a ton of lesbians from all over the world. It's true, I do receive hundreds of messages from said lesbians showing me pictures of their naughty bits and offering sexual favors in exchange for just about anything. But believe me when I tell you, that is not enough! I am honestly and sincerely looking to date. I don't have a significant other and I would love to have one (or 5?). I was in one long-term relationship after another since I was 16, and now I've been single for nearly 2 years.

I like having fun, ladies. So if you wanna come over to my house and watch General Hospital with me while we eat grapes and giggle, bring that shit on! IF you'd prefer to take me to Eleven, get me drunk and have your way with me, um...who's complainin? Ultimately though, I think I'll meet my *girlfriend* online or at Barnes & Noble in the magazine section. I'm looking for someone who's in the 24-30 range. I'm 5'8" ish, so I generally like women who are 5'5" or taller. If you are British or can put on an amazing British accent for hours at a time, come find me:-) If you have a good sense of humor, lots of ambition, a nice rack w/ sensitive nipples, and enjoy talking about absolutely nothing sometimes, apply within!"

serious in-queer-ies only, contact...ya know...me @ www.myspace.com/thisismyinterlude

want to be featured? here's how it works: if you're looking for a new lova, friend, date, etc, send an email to me at interludemagazine@yahoo.com with the following: your name, your age, location, MYSPACE PROFILE URL (or whichever way you want people to contact you) what you're looking for, a few words about yourself, AND send me a LINK to your picture. upload your picture to myspace or photobucket or something and send me the ADDRESS to the pic. please dont send me files! just the address. i can do the rest. and then check back to see if you're featured. lots of ladies will see your beautiful face and read your beautiful words, and maybe you'll make some new friends! woohoo! oh! and if you want to film a vid (2 mins or less) of you talking about yourself or showing us around or whatever, i'll definitely post that too! just send me the link to where i can find the vid on youtube or myspace.

Tig Ol' Bitties

Once again my scorn for Los Angeles gets offset by a rad night that I probably could never experience anywhere else. Where else can you see Sarah Silverman and Janeane Garofalo on the same stage carpet, a mere 12 feet away from you and your $6 beer?

Yes, my friends, last night at L.A.'s Largo was pretty much *they-could-pass-for-lesbian* heaven. My crew and I went for Silverman, were completely surprised that Garofalo stopped by for a hilarious set, and pretty much killed by one of the openers, Tig Notaro. You might recognize Tig from Sarah's tv show. You know, the one where Sarah decided to become a lesbian? Yeah...that was my favorite one too:-)

Tig made our entire table (which consisted of 3 and a quarter lesbians) cry laughing. And not the, 'oh this is so funny, let me dab my eye hole with the corner of this napkin,' kinda crying. I'm talking about, 'we can't breathe or see through the tears, that chick owes me a contact,' kinda crying. I absolutely couldn't wait to get this post out to you guys to pimp the hell out of Tig Notaro:

Add Tig on myspace at www.myspace.com/tignotaro and tell her I sent you :-) And if you ever, ever, EVER get a chance to see her live on tour, or on some talk show, do not miss it!

Random lesbian moment...

I was at a club in West Hollywood on Tuesday called "Eleven" for the opening of the new lesbian night they introduced there that happens weekly. I wasn't really in the best mood because of my family's situation at the time, but I felt it was a good idea to show up and show my support to my friends who help put on these great events.

It definitely is THE spot to be on Tuesday nights if you're a lesbian in Los Angeles. Ourchart even has a whole section now dedicated to pics from L.A.'s lesbian escapades...It's *weird* seeing your friends in pics on a site like that, but very cool. Click here to see the new section on Ourchart!

Anyway, I wore my "Angelina is my homogirl" shirt in olive green because it was dark and I was trying to hide my growing belly (no, I'm not pregnant...just too close to too many fast food places in my new apartment:-/) ...so that was cool. But uh, Jenny Shimizu was there. So it's like...do I take my shirt off and give it to you Jenny Shimizu since she really was your homegirl? Or do I avoid Jenny Shimizu at all costs?

Just something randomly gay that I thought was funny/ironic. You really gotta love this city. It's incredible. I should turn into the Perez Hilton of the L.A. lesbian scene & blog about THAT, cause you wouldn't believe half of the stuff that goes on out here. I'm just a chick from Texas tryin' to make it in this crazy, mixed up world.
